Team Duct Tape members finally found an open Saturday we could share with each other, for our end-of-season wrap
up party. And we had a lot to celebrate! In this, our third season, we brought home six trophies from two qualifying competitions and the Florida State Championship:
- Finalist Alliance Award and Connect Award at Florida State Championship
- Winning Alliance Award and the PTC Design Award at Seminole High School Techtacular and
- Inspire Award and PTC Design Award at Middleton Madness
Our robot design and construction was solid and reliable, and our teamwork exemplary. So it was only fitting that, as always, TDT played hard, ate well and had fun at our wrap up party! We especially enjoyed having the opportunity to recognize our two graduating seniors this season, Lee and Ben, who are heading off to state universities in the fall. It was a pleasure having these two great students on Team Duct Tape and they’ll be missed.
But we’re sure they’ll be back to visit, like our other alumni students who dropped in throughout last season to mentor and have fun with us. Because we certainly know how to make the most of both play time and competition time. Team members swam, played pool, board games, and got in some fancy Kinect footwork. And we ate!
Now we’re fortified until our next get together, when we head out to Orlando to staff an FTC exhibit at the national PTA Convention in June. We plan to host a couple of more fun get togethers over the summer before the new season kick-off in September.
And in the meantime, we’ve got spots for a couple more new students, and we’re happy to begin accepting new member applications now. Visit our Be Part of Team Duct Tape page for more information. And visit our website often through the summer for news and information about science and robotics! There’s always something interesting and exciting going on in the world of STEM, and we’ll do our best to keep you informed about it.
