Some Team Duct Tape members joined the Florida West Coast Section of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers on a great tour of the Port of Tampa yesterday.  It was a terrific tour that included a boat trip all around Florida’s largest port, both in the amount of cargo processed and in size, at 5000 acres.

Besides cruise ships coming in and out of the port, we learned about the variety of cargo that comes through the area, which ranges from orange juice to fertilizer, oil and raw materials. And the Tampa Port is one of the biggest ship building and repair centers in the Southeast.

We even enjoyed the company of some dolphins during our tour.

All in all, it was a fun and informative tour around the port , and we’re very grateful to ASME for including us in this great opportunity to learn more about the engineering that goes into this economically critical part of our community.
