TDT II forming in Brandon, FL!

TDT Ready to Rock!

Learning is for Everyone, parent sponsor of FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Team Duct Tape, is coordinating the creation of a second team –TDT II –  in the Brandon area, and we’re looking for some interested, energetic, and enthusiastic Brandon/Seffner area teens who want to be part of TDT Part Deux!

We’re delighted to bring our exciting community-based STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) education program to central Hillsborough County, and look forward to expanding the FIRST outreach, academics and fun for which TDT has been known for the last  three years.

Our community based programs are open to public, private and homeschooled high school students, ages 14 and up.  Team Duct Tape is well-regarded for our extensive mentoring and community outreach, engaging team members in field trips to area engineering firms and tech businesses, working with a lot of professional mentors in a variety of fields ranging from mechanical engineering to graphic design to business management, and providing robotics demonstrations at everything from the Tampa Bay Area Renaissance Festival to the annual coolTECH event at MOSI.

FIRST Tech Challenge is a mid-level robotics competition for high-school students. The ultimate goal of FTC is to engage youth in discovering the excitement and rewards of science, technology, and engineering.  Millions of dollars worth of scholarships are also available to students participating in FIRST robotics. No previous experience is necessary, just an interest in science, math, engineering or technology and a desire to be part of a fun and collaborative hands on learning experience.

TDT II will run on the same organizing principles as our original Team Duct Tape,  and abide by the same core values and teamwork ethic. If you live in the Brandon area and are interested in joining or supporting Team Duct Tape the Second, please contact Angela Arden at aarden@verizon.net .
