It’s that time of year again! Before the September 9 FIRST Tech Challenge international kick off, we invite teams around Florida and everywhere to join in our annual Guess the Game Challenge! Share your best guess on how the new season game Relic Recovery will be played, and we’ll award one in-state winner a handmade duct tape prize and we’ll send a special prize to the person with the closet guess, out of state. So start following along the FIRST Tech Challenge blog and looking for clues, and enter your best guess HERE.
Team Duct Tape is super excited to be heading to the 2016-17 FIRST Tech Challenge State Championship in Davie, FL. It was a tough season, with nearly 200 teams competing statewide, so it was no easy feat to earn a spot in the top 28. In the end, we finished in 25th place, and now we’re gearing up for the Velocity Vortex State Championship at Dillard High School in Davie!
We’re also really excited about upcoming changes in 2017-18, when we move to our new home at Regency Park Library, where we’ll be meeting in the new makerspace under development there. We’ll be a sister team to FIRST Robotics Competition team 5276, the Edgar Allan Ohms, who will also be helping mentor our team. The association with the library system will provide a permanent home for Team Duct Tape, bring FIRST programming to youth in New Port Richey, and give Team Duct Tape members an opportunity to explore FIRST Robotics Competition as well.
Stay tuned for more on our new home. For now, we’ve got a Championship to get ready for!
Hopefully you’ve been keeping up with the FIRST Tech Challenge blog in the last few weeks, and if you have, you might have seen some allusions to game hints there, like on July 1 for instance. Check out some of the posts after that, too, to see if anything looks promising. Even you don’t see any game hints, you’ll get lots of good information for you new season.
Either way, you’ve got from now until September 9 to enter your best guess for the 2016-17 FIRST Tech Challenge game. The team that comes closest to the actual game wins a handmade duct tape gift! (Last year’s winner took home an awesome RD D2 made out of duct tape.)
Good luck, and Go Teams!
