Tampa Bay Innovation Center ROCKS!

TDT members enjoyed a fantastic visit to the Tampa Bay Innovation Center in Largo yesterday.  TBIC personnel were warm and welcoming hosts, and gave TDT members an inside look at some interesting forensic and defense technologies used by law enforcement and the military worldwide.

They also took the time to give TDT members some more deep seated insights about what it takes to be a technology entrepreneur in the 21st century.  A lot of the traits they talked about:

  • Imagination
  • Curiosity
  • Innovation
  • Work-life balance
  • Academic excellence and one our teenaged team members felt gratified to see –
  • Naps!

are all things we value and (hopefully!) utilize as a team.

TDT members got some hands on time with Field Forensics, and a great tour of Alakai Defense Systems .  No pictures allowed, so you’ll just have to take our word for how cool it was!

Seeing all these great entrepreneurial traits in action (well, not the naps – everyone was pretty energetic at TBIC!) was interesting and exciting.  We also enjoyed demoing our robot for TBIC members, and look forward to visiting again later in the season to showcase our new 2011-12 robot (whatever that may look like!)

Now that our imaginations are all fired up, we can’t wait for the new season to start!

Field Trip! TDT Visiting Tampa Bay Innovation Center

What better way to get in the spirit of the new season than a hi-tech field trip! TDT made the acquaintance of the Tampa Bay Innovation Center earlier this summer, at coolTECH 2011, and is excited to have this opportunity to learn more about the cool things this great idea accelerator does.
We’ll be meeting with representatives from Field Forensics – which supports law enforcement, military and other government forensics laboratories and first responders with unique and patent-protected field sampling devices- and with Homeland Intelligence Techonologies – which provides emergency first response solutions.

Looks like the 2011-12 season is off to an inspiring start!
